INTRODUCE

Rapid Avian Influenza Virus Antigen Test Kit is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of avian Influenza virus antigen (AIV Ag) in avian’s eye or cloaca secretion. 

Avian influenza virus (AIV) belongs to influenza A virus. Influenza viruses belong to the orthomyxovirus family of RNA viruses, and are divided into three types: A, B and C. Among them, influenza A viruses are mostly found in birds, and some A types can also infect various mammals such as pigs, horses, seals and whales, as well as humans; influenza B and C viruses are seen in infections of seals and pigs, respectively. Viral influenza in birds is an infectious disease caused by influenza A virus that causes a variety of symptoms in birds ranging from respiratory to severe systemic sepsis. Avian influenza is easily prevalent among birds and used to be called “chicken plague” in folklore, and the OlE has designated it as a category A infectious disease.

STORAGE & SHELF LIFE

Store at 2-30°C, out of sun light and moisture.

Shelf Life: 24 months

TEST PROCEDURE

1. Collect avian’s eye or cloaca secretion with the swab stick. Make the swab wet sufficiently.

2. Insert the wet swab into the provided assay buffer tubes and agitate it get efficient sample extraction.

3. Take out the test device from the foil pouch and place it horizontally.

4. Gradually drip 3 drops of sample extraction into the sample hole with disposable droppers.

5. Interpret the result in 10-15 minutes. Result after 15 minutes is considered as invalid.

INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS

Positive: Two lines appear, no matter T line is clear or vague.

Negative: Only C line appears.

Invalid: No line appears or only T line appears.

PRECAUTIONS

1. The test must be used within 1 hour after opening the foil pouch.

2. Centrifuge the sample before testing  if have sediment or turbidity.

3. Extract samples should be tested immediately.

4. Do not use the expired test or the test with damaged foil pouch.

5. Do not reuse the test kit and do not mix components from different lot numbers.

LIMITATION

Rapid Avian Influenza Virus Antigen Test Kit is for in vitro veterinary diagnosis use only. All results should be considered with other clinical information available from veterinarian. For an accurate result, it is suggested to apply other method such as PCR for final determination in practice.
